The Clean Energy Council's accreditation categories reflect the different responsibilities and capabilities of those who work in the solar photovoltaic industry.

To apply for an accreditation, the applicant must complete the relevant training modules. For Grid-connect Install and Design and Install, the applicant must also hold an unrestricted electrical licence.

The relevant accreditation or endorsement must be held for government rebate eligibility.

Fees

  Fee (excluding GST)
Provisional accreditation: Valid for three months $120
Accreditation upgrade (to full): Valid for 24 months $800
Accreditation renewal (CPD): Valid for 12 months and subject to completing 100 points of approved training (per year) $190
Accreditation extension: All extensions must be paid for, unless an extension is required to complete further work for an application which has been deemed 'not adequate' or 'not to standard'. $100 per month for a maximum of three months
Case study assessment for adding components: $190

 

Where applications are rejected, a processing fee will apply.

Credit card surcharges: 1.5% for Visa and MasterCard, 3% for Amex.

Types of grid-connect (GC) accreditation

The applicant is accredited to work on grid-connect (GC) photovoltaic power systems (connected to the grid).

Grid-connect Design Only

The applicant is accredited for the design of a GC photovoltaic power system. They are not responsible for any part of the installation of the power system.

Grid-connect Install Only

The applicant is accredited for the installation of a GC photovoltaic power system.

Grid-connect Design and Install

The applicant is accredited for the design and installation of a GC photovoltaic power system. Only those applicants who hold both Design and Install accreditation are accredited to design and install solar photovoltaic power systems.

Note: an unrestricted electrical licence is required for 'Grid-connect Design and Install' and 'Grid-connect Install Only'.

The Clean Energy Council does not accredit applicants for any low voltage (LV) work. All LV work ( >120V DC or >50V AC ) must be completed by an appropriately licensed electrical worker in accordance with the relevant Australian Standards and legislation.

Types of stand-alone (SPS) accreditation

The applicant is accredited to work on stand-alone (SPS) photovoltaic power systems (not connected to the grid).

SPS Design Only

The applicant is accredited for the design of a SPS photovoltaic power system. They are not responsible for any part of the installation of the power system.

SPS Install Only

The applicant is accredited for the installation of a SPS photovoltaic power system.

SPS Design and Install

The applicant is accredited for the design and installation of a SPS photovoltaic power system. Only those applicants who hold both Design and Install accreditation are accredited to design and install solar photovoltaic power systems.

Note: the delineation of responsibilities between a designer and an installer can be complicated. All systems where the designer is not the same as the installer of the systems should document clearly where these responsibilities lie.

Types of endorsements

Micro-hydro power systems

The applicant is accredited to design and install micro-hydro systems up to 6.4 kW.

Note: to have small wind endorsement the applicant must also be accredited for either GC or SPS PV systems.
