Solar Isolators - Information Sheet

The Clean Energy Council has become aware of a particular type of solar isolator – a kind of switch used in household solar power systems – with an unacceptably high level of product failures in Australia.

The ISO-MAX DC Isolator was distributed in Australia by Eltech Industries and has been installed in approximately 23,000 systems since April 2011. (This represents less than five per cent of the 500,000 solar power systems installed in Australia.)

This problem presents a very low risk to households. The Clean Energy Council has been working on correcting this issue over the last six months. We advise you to leave your solar system alone and contact your installation company if you have any concerns.
