Wind endorsement

As of 20 December 2010, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) created in the REC Registry for small wind systems must contain a CEC accreditation and wind endorsement. This means that the unit must have been designed and installed by a person who is:

a)   accredited for stand-alone (SPS) and/or grid-connected (GC) photovoltaic power systems under the CEC Accreditation Scheme; and

b)   endorsed for the design and installation of stand-alone (SPS) and/or grid-connected (GC) small wind systems under the CEC Wind Endorsement Scheme

An individual must complete a Certificate IV or Diploma in Electrotechnology: Renewable Energy to gain CEC accreditation. This course includes an additional training module on wind turbine installation that must also be completed for an individual to gain CEC wind endorsement.

To apply for the CEC wind endorsement, an individual must complete the additional training modules on wind turbine installation. The National training codes for these units are K30B, K31B, K43B

Individuals installing small wind systems sized over 50 volts AC must hold an unrestricted electrical license and may be required to hold a building contractors license where it is a State or Territory requirement.
